Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer Vinfast is gearing up for a significant entry into the Indian market. Initially, the larger VF7 will be launched, but the VF6 stands out for its relevance, targeting the competitive midsize crossover segment, which is currently home to vehicles like the Creta Electric, Curvv EV, BE 6, and Windsor.
In light of such strong competition, Vinfast is putting considerable effort into making the VF6 memorable, equipping it with a host of features and impressive specifications. Moreover, with plans for local assembly, a competitive price point is anticipated. Will this unique Vietnamese EV earn a spot on your list?
2025 Vinfast VF6 Exterior Design and Engineering – 8/10
Well proportioned, boasting a muscular crossover stance.
The VF6 showcases the ‘V Face’ LED daytime running light (DRL) that stretches across the front, making it instantly identifiable as a Vinfast vehicle and helping to establish the brand’s identity. The bumper integrates the headlamps alongside a low-set honeycomb grille, which houses the radar module for the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Measuring 4.3 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width, and 1.6 meters in height, the VF6 is designed with a respectable 2.7-meter wheelbase, firmly placing it in the midsize SUV category. To adapt for Indian roads, the VF6 has a ground clearance of 190mm and features 18-inch wheels with taller tires, diverging from the 19-inch options available in other markets. These modifications enhance the vehicle’s road presence while maintaining an appealing crossover silhouette.
Plastic cladding encircles the wheel arches, while brushed silver accents add a touch of elegance to the window lining, leading towards a distinct C-pillar design. The vehicle flaunts strong muscular body panels with defined shoulder lines culminating in high-set rear LED lighting and split tail-lamps at the bottom.

Beneath the small rear window lies a 423-liter cargo space, which, despite its somewhat narrow loading area, provides practicality. A tray underneath accommodates charging cables, tools, and other essentials (though no front trunk is available), and removing this tray might even allow for installing a space-saver spare tire.
2025 Vinfast VF6 Interior Space and Comfort – 6/10
Space is adequate for its size; the design remains simple.
Vinfast adopts a minimalist approach for the VF6’s interior, notably omitting an instrument cluster or driver display. Instead, it features a low-set dashboard that grants an unobstructed view ahead, complemented by a prominent 12.9-inch touchscreen positioned at the center.

The front seats are comfortable (and ventilated) with power adjustments available for the driver’s side. The space between the dashboard and the console contributes to an airy feel in an otherwise neutral all-grey cabin, while build quality appears solid, albeit with a few visible lower-grade plastics.
A large fixed glass roof extends from front to back, creating an airy ambiance that reaches just behind the rear passengers’ heads. While currently absent, Vinfast promises to introduce some heat insulation when the vehicle launches in India.

Rear-seat accommodations are fair but don’t match the spaciousness of rivals in the segment. However, comfort is commendable, with ample cushioning, a flat floor, and a seating position that avoids an excessive ‘knees up’ angle.
2025 Vinfast VF6 Features and Safety – 9/10
Extensively equipped, though heavily dependent on the touchscreen.
The Vinfast VF6 is well-stocked with features, although the implementation of some may require adjustment. Essential driver information such as speed, range, battery status, and safety alerts appear in the upper right corner of the touchscreen. Notably, for the Indian market, Vinfast includes a heads-up display in standard equipment, which may necessitate a learning curve during driving.

The compact steering wheel includes a few key functions, and the AC vents are horizontally arranged within the floating dashboard. The only physical buttons center around drive selection, which requires a firm press to engage, along with a dedicated shortcut for drive modes. Most other functionalities are touchscreen-based, including climate settings, regenerative modes, headlight operations, and mirror adjustments, which may not be very user-friendly due to the size of the icons.
Despite this, the feature list is expansive and includes highlights such as dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, heads-up display, panoramic glass roof, vegan leather upholstery, wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and advanced in-car technology.

Vinfast is pursuing a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, sparing no effort in incorporating a robust safety kit. The VF6 is equipped with a standard set of 7 airbags, electronic parking brake, 360-degree camera system, parking assistance, automatic headlights and wipers, and advanced driver-assistance systems with Level 2 automation.
2025 Vinfast VF6 Range and Efficiency – 8/10
While WLTP figures seem modest, Indian range could be enhanced.
The VF6 is offered in India with a 59.6kWh battery, which is satisfactory compared to competitors. Vinfast has mentioned that due to specific modifications made to the powertrain for India, official efficiency figures from MIDC or ARAI will provide a clearer understanding of the expected range. For reference, the overseas version of the VF6 boasts a WLTP-certified range of 480km on a full charge.

Regarding charging, while Vinfast has not disclosed specific charging times or speeds, the VF6 will feature a CCS2 DC charging port, and AC charging can be performed at rates of up to 7.2kW.
2025 Vinfast VF6 Performance and Refinement – 8/10
Impressive performance with distinct driving modes.
The VF6 Plus variant is equipped with a robust 204hp electric motor, placing it among the top of its category. The front wheels receive all that power, and during aggressive acceleration in Sport mode, some torque steer and mild vibrations can be felt through the steering.
Vinfast VF6 Powertrain Specs | |
---|---|
Motor Power | 204hp |
Motor Torque | 310Nm |
Battery Capacity | 59.6kWh |
Drive Layout | FWD |
0-100kph | 8.89s |
AC Charging | Up to 7.2kW |
Despite some initial hesitation, acceleration feels potent, with Vinfast claiming a 0-100km/h time of 8.89 seconds, which is quite brisk. Although our experience with the vehicle was limited to a short segment of Vinfast’s test track, a comprehensive performance review will take place once we test it in India.
In Eco and Normal modes, the power delivery appears smoother and more relaxed, optimizing everyday driving comfort. Regenerative braking options are varied – Off, Low, Medium, and High – but they don’t feel overly aggressive or intrusive. The environment during testing showed satisfactory refinement levels, with only a synthesized acceleration sound audible in the cabin.

2025 Vinfast VF6 Ride Comfort and Handling – 8/10
Presents an almost European precision in dynamic setup.
While a thorough dynamic evaluation remains pending, initial impressions indicate promising handling characteristics. The steering provides a reassuring weight without compromising maneuverability. The various drive modes distinctly alter the steering weight, offering a certain artificial feel yet delivering noticeable adjustments in weight.
The VF6 maintains stable handling at high speeds remarkably well, showcasing a level of control and stability reminiscent of European competitors, a positive attribute for a vehicle in this segment.
2025 Vinfast VF6 Price and Verdict – 7/10
Expected to be competitively priced with its extensive features.
The approach Vinfast has adopted for the VF6 in India is compelling. With local assembly from the outset, competitive pricing is anticipated, estimated around Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom) for the single fully-loaded VF6 Plus variant. The brand aims for aggressive pricing, a differentiator for Vinfast as it establishes itself in new markets.

Vinfast plans to leverage its parent group, VinGroup, to establish a robust ecosystem in India, covering service networks, charging infrastructure, and even a potential app-based taxi service, alongside future ventures in hospitality, healthcare, housing, and education. Their commitment to the Indian market is evident.
While concerns about user control mechanisms and rear seating capacity compared to competitors remain, the impressive engineering of the vehicle is clear. Additionally, the brand’s thoughtful adaptations for the Indian market may eventually influence their offerings in international territories.
Stay tuned for further insights following our complete test drive in India, as our initial reactions are certainly defined by a sense of excitement and optimism.
