In response to the enthusiastic reception of the Range Rover Ranthambore special edition, JLR is gearing up to introduce another exclusive model for the Indian market. Martin Limpert, JLR’s Global Managing Director, mentioned, “Our Ranthambore edition was well received, and our customers are eager for more India-based specials. We are in the works for another edition inspired by the Himalayas.”
- Special edition models enhance exclusivity, according to the brand.
- Local assembly of Range Rover facilitates the introduction of more special editions.
While specific details about the Himalaya Edition remain under wraps, it is anticipated to feature lighter paint shades, potentially white, along with unique thematic trim similar to the Ranthambore edition.
To provide context, the Ranthambore edition showcased a bespoke black finish accented with Corinthian Bronze and Anthracite tones, inspired by the stripes of a tiger. Inside, the Caraway and Perlino semi-aniline leather included embroidery that reflected the tiger’s spine. JLR offered just 12 units of this special edition, all of which were sold within the first week of availability.

Significance of Special Edition Models
Limpert noted, “Our customers greatly appreciate these special editions as they add to the exclusivity.” To further this approach, the company plans to enhance its bespoke offerings, which the local assembly of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport is expected to facilitate.
He also highlighted the importance of local assembly in elevating JLR’s performance last year. For FY2025, the company reported a 40 percent growth, achieving sales of 6,183 units, placing it in third position in the luxury vehicle segment in India. Notably, sales of the locally assembled Range Rover and Range Rover Sport increased by 2.5 times.
