Oben Electric’s O100 Platform: Features and Potential
Modular and Scalable Design
The newly introduced O100 (pronounced O-hundred) platform will serve as the foundation for Oben’s second electric motorcycle. The brand’s goal is to maintain a price point below Rs 1 lakh, targeting the segment of motorcycles that are equivalent to 100cc, which constitutes a significant portion of India’s two-wheeler market, around 30%.
According to the company, the O100 platform boasts modularity and scalability, allowing it to accommodate larger battery packs, support various configurations, and cater to multiple segments. This follows a similar strategy adopted for the Rorr EZ, which is available in three variants, featuring battery capacities ranging from 2.6kWh to 4.4kWh.
Previous Platform Insights
The O100 represents Oben’s second platform; their first, the ARX platform, was utilized for their initial electric two-wheeler, the Rorr. The Rorr EZ and Rorr models, priced between Rs 90,000 and Rs 1.5 lakh, will continue to sit above the anticipated new model under Rs 1 lakh.
Once launched, this new electric motorcycle is expected to rival competitors such as the Revolt RV1 and RV BlazeX.
