From Start to Finish: Maini’s Monaco Victory
Advancing to P13 in the F2 Championship
Maini qualified in P10 for the Feature Race, which allowed him to start from pole position in the reverse-grid Sprint Race. After a solid start, he faced constant pressure from Alpine academy driver Gabriele Mini throughout the race.
The race dynamic shifted on Lap 12 with the deployment of a Safety Car for recovering Joshua Duerksen’s car. Following the restart, Maini excelled and managed to pull away enough to avoid Mini’s DRS range. “I struggled a bit with front locking, and one of my brakes lost effectiveness. It wasn’t just about aiming for the fastest lap but rather maintaining consistency and avoiding mistakes, which I believe we accomplished,” Maini noted.

Maini ultimately secured his second F2 sprint win, finishing 3.705 seconds ahead of Mini. This victory marks his first with the Dams team, arriving at a pivotal moment following a challenging start to the season and providing a much-needed boost to his confidence.
“While this is a Sprint Race, and naturally we aspire to win the Feature, it still feels fantastic to win in Monaco. As a child in India playing F1 on PlayStation, I never imagined I’d be here winning in the second tier of racing. I’m truly grateful, especially to my team,” expressed Maini.
“Our season has been rocky, with various challenges. Some were within our control, others not. However, I consider today to be the start of our season, and there is plenty of time left for success. This victory serves as a positive boost moving forward,” he added.
Maini’s victory propels him up to P13 in the overall championship standings, trailing leader Alexander Dunne by 54 points.
