Introduction

The Rynox Air GT gloves have become an attractive option for urban motorcyclists looking for a perfect mix of comfort, safety, and price. The updated version features flexible rubber protection for the carpal bones, enhancing its abrasion resistance. While the overall design remains unchanged, this improvement has led to a price increase of Rs 700.

Design and Materials

These gloves are constructed from soft, full-grain leather that is perforated for added breathability, along with extra leather panels in high-abrasion areas. This combination ensures durability while providing adequate ventilation, which is essential for riding in hotter climates.

Comfort and Fit

Rynox Air GT gloves comfort

Flexible armour doesn’t compromise overall comfort.

Although Rynox claims that the fingers are pre-curved and don’t necessitate a break-in period, I found the gloves slightly stiff at first. However, after some time, they became much more comfortable, partly due to the accordion stretch panels which enhance hand mobility. The gloves also feature touchscreen-compatible fingertips, although precision inputs can be challenging because of the rounded fingertip edges—a common issue across many gloves.

Protection Features

Rynox Air GT gloves ventilation

Despite the leather construction, these gloves have decent ventilation.

The cuff design includes a small elastic panel that facilitates easy hand entry and exit. Coupled with an adjustable wrist strap, this ensures a snug yet comfortable fit. Regarding safety, these gloves are CE certified according to the EN 13594:2015 standard. They feature TPU protectors with HD foam backing over the knuckles, HD foam inserts for the fingertips and joints, as well as the new carpus bone protection.

Ventilation and Weather Resistance

The only change is the added protection on the palm.

Despite riding in the heat of summer, these gloves maintain good ventilation and do not contribute to discomfort during commutes or casual rides. However, it is important to note that they are not waterproof, which makes them less suitable for rainy conditions. While these gloves are not designed for high-speed touring or track scenarios, they perform exceptionally well in urban settings and short weekend trips. Available in four color options, the Air GT gloves serve as a reliable choice for novice riders looking for quality gear without overspending.
