Performance and Powertrain
Engine Details
Under the hood, the Volkswagen Golf GTI features a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates an impressive 265hp and 370Nm of torque. This robust engine is also shared with the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line SUV. The power generated is transferred to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which enhances the driving experience. Additionally, the Golf GTI is equipped with an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock for improved handling.
Acceleration and Top Speed
The Golf GTI can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. For comparison, the Mini Cooper S, one of its competitors in India, takes 6.6 seconds to reach the 100 km/h mark and has a top speed of 242 km/h.
Exterior Design and Customization
Striking Design Elements
The exterior of the Golf GTI is accentuated by an illuminated VW logo and sleek Matrix LED headlights that are connected by a slim daytime running light strip. The front bumper exhibits a sporty design distinct from the regular Golf variant sold abroad, complemented by X-shaped LED fog lights. A striking red strip embellishes the front, and GTI badging is prominently displayed on the grille, front doors, and tailgate. The vehicle comes equipped with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels featuring red brake calipers, while the rear boasts smoked-out LED tail-lights, a prominent roof spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets.
