Update on Aprilia India’s Warranty Policy
Aprilia India has acknowledged customer concerns related to the reliability of the parallel twin engine found in the RS 457 and Tuono 457 models. In response, the company has enhanced the warranty period and addressed certain terms linked to it.
Customer Feedback on Engine Reliability
- Reports of Engine Issues: Some customers have experienced notable reliability problems with the engine in recent months.
- Company’s Response: Aprilia has communicated that these reported issues have been resolved.
Engine Reliability Statement
Issues reported by customers emerged a few months ago, primarily revolving around the engine head and the cam chain tensioner. Some riders noted a drop in top-end performance attributed to loss of compression, with a few isolated instances of engine failure. Aprilia India has reportedly addressed these concerns, either through head replacements or by providing new engines, based on individual cases.
About two weeks ago, Aprilia India issued a statement clarifying that most issues were linked to unauthorized aftermarket modifications and inconsistent service schedules. The company added, “for the few genuine cases that arose, we promptly addressed and resolved them in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to our customers.”
Details of the Extended Warranty
While the complete resolution of these issues will be confirmed over time, Aprilia India must focus on rebuilding customer trust, especially considering the high value of these products within a limited customer demographic. The introduction of this extended warranty is a positive step towards achieving that goal.

Although not officially announced, dealer communications indicate that the warranty for the Aprilia RS 457 has been increased from 3 years and 36,000 km to 4 years and 48,000 km, with a similar extension applicable to the Tuono 457 model.
Another significant update is the removal of the single owner clause. Previously, the warranty was only applicable to the initial owner. Now, it can be transferred to subsequent customers who purchase the bike secondhand, provided they adhere to the warranty’s terms and conditions.
This extended warranty brings a sense of security for those considering the purchase of the new Aprilia twin-cylinder motorcycles. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
