It’s not happening

Recent media speculations suggested that following the recent launch of the Volkswagen Golf GTI in India, Honda might be preparing to introduce the Civic Type R as a contender in the hot hatch segment. However, Autocar India can confirm that Honda has no intentions of launching the Civic Type R in India. The introduction of the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition actually signals that the performance hatchback will slowly be phased out of production globally by 2026.
