Recently, it was announced that Mahindra is preparing to unveil new variants of the XEV 9e, aimed at making the large 79kWh battery pack more accessible to a broader audience. A recent regulatory filing from Mahindra confirms this information and provides additional insights into the upcoming variants.

Details on New Trims
Introducing Two New Trims
The current offering of the 79kWh battery on the Mahindra XEV 9e is limited to the top-tier Pack Three trim, while the lower trims come equipped with a smaller 59kWh battery. With the upcoming updates, the 79kWh option will also be available on the Pack Three Select trim, whereas the 59kWh battery will now be featured in the Pack Three variant.
These changes are expected to provide Mahindra with the opportunity to competitively price the Pack Three trim, which currently includes advanced features like the ADAS suite and a head-up display. However, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sector) of Mahindra, mentioned in an interview that customers are placing a higher priority on range over additional features.
Powertrain and Variant Configuration
The XEV 9e is available in four distinct trims: Pack One, Pack Two, Pack Three Select, and Pack Three. Two battery configurations are offered: the 59kWh and the 79kWh. The 59kWh variant generates 231hp and 380Nm of torque, offering a range of 542km, while the 79kWh variant produces 286hp and 380Nm of torque with a range of 656km, based on ARAI testing. Both configurations are rear-wheel drive.
Presently, Mahindra has primarily focused on delivering the top-tier Pack Three variant of the XEV 9e. Deliveries for the Pack Three Select began in June, whereas deliveries for Packs Two and One are scheduled to commence in July and August, respectively. The ex-showroom pricing for the Mahindra XEV 9e ranges from Rs 22.65 lakh to Rs 31.25 lakh.
