The Ducati Scrambler 1100 has been removed from the brand’s official website, a move likely influenced by its aging engine and the upcoming enforcement of stricter Euro 5+ emission standards.
- Ducati Scrambler 1100 generated a peak output of 86hp and 88Nm.
- Its last recorded price ranged from Rs 13.40 lakh to 16 lakh.
Ducati Scrambler 1100 Discontinuation Due to New Emission Regulations
The Scrambler Lineup Now Limited to 803cc Models
Initially launched in 2018, the Ducati Scrambler 1100 has enjoyed eight years of presence in the market. Its discontinuation is largely attributed to the enforcement of more stringent Euro 5+/ BS6.2 emission regulations and the aging engine it employs.
Despite its 2018 debut, the 1079cc L-twin engine in the Scrambler 1100 actually traces its roots back to 2009, first appearing in the original Hypermotard and the Monster 1100. Over the years, this engine was extensively modified and re-engineered for use in the Scrambler 1100, integrating features like an oil-cooling system, ride-by-wire technology to allow rider modes and safety features, and significant tuning for Euro 4 compliance. Although it officially launched in 2018, the engine itself has a history going back more than 15 years.
A notable concern surrounding the Scrambler 1100 was its pricing, which placed it in a unique market segment. The last reported ex-showroom price was between Rs 13.40 lakh and Rs 16 lakh. Although it lacked direct competition, as it served more as a lifestyle product aimed at a specific audience, the high price raised expectations for enhanced performance, in contrast to other bikes available in its price bracket.
The engine, which was a displacement of 1079cc, delivered 86hp and 88Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a slip and assist clutch.
While the Ducati Scrambler 1100 is no longer listed on the Indian website, inquiries have been initiated with Ducati India regarding its status in global markets. It is yet to be clarified how Ducati intends to redefine the Scrambler series and whether it will now focus solely on models equipped with the 803cc engine.
