Kia has officially announced the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for the upcoming Carens Clavis MPV, set to launch later this month. The Carens Clavis will offer three engine options: a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 116hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine.

The turbo-petrol engine provides additional options with a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic available as alternatives to the manual transmission.
- Kia Carens Clavis diesel-manual variants offer the highest mileage at 19.54 km/l.
- Turbo-petrol engine delivers 16.66 km/l with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
- Carens Clavis 1.5 petrol is the least efficient of the range at 15.34 km/l.

Diesel-manual Configuration is the Most Frugal

The Carens Clavis excels in fuel efficiency, particularly with its diesel variants. The 6-speed manual diesel configuration delivers the best mileage in its category at 19.54 km/l, while the 6-speed automatic variant achieves 17.50 km/l. Following closely is the sporty 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, offering an impressive 16.66 km/l with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and both the 6-speed manual and iMT providing a commendable 15.95 km/l. The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine rounds out the lineup with a mileage of 15.34 km/l in its single 6-speed manual configuration.
These fuel efficiency figures do trail behind some of the primary competitors for the Carens Clavis, such as the Maruti Suzuki XL6 (20.27-20.97 km/l), Ertiga (20.30-26.11 km/l), and Toyota Rumion (20.11-26.11 km/l), which also have efficient CNG variants. However, it’s important to note that the Carens Clavis boasts more powerful engines throughout its lineup.
Here’s a breakdown of every Carens Clavis powertrain and the mileage you can expect from them:
