The Mahindra XEV 9e represents the brand’s premium electric SUV, priced between Rs 21.90 lakh and Rs 30.50 lakh, ex-showroom. This all-electric vehicle stands above the BE 6 in Mahindra’s born electric lineup and features amplified interior space, an extensive range of features, and a coupe-like SUV design. Here are five compelling reasons to consider acquiring or upgrading to the Mahindra XEV 9e electric SUV.
1. Single-charge range
Up to 656km claimed range

The XEV 9e is available with two battery options: a 59kWh and a 79kWh pack. The smaller battery provides a range of 542 km according to the Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC), while the larger option boasts a remarkable 656 km (with Mahindra claiming over 500 km under real-world conditions). Whether for daily commutes or long-distance travel, the XEV 9e stands out as a versatile EV choice. With a 175kW DC fast charger, recharging from 20% to 80% takes only 20 minutes.
2. Dazzling array of tech
Three 12.3-inch screens

One of the most notable aspects of the XEV 9e’s interior is its impressive three-screen configuration, comprising a driver’s display, a central touchscreen, and a front passenger touchscreen, all measuring 12.3 inches. Additional features include a state-of-the-art 16-speaker, 1,400W Harman Kardon sound system equipped with Dolby Atmos, ventilated front seats with electric adjustments and memory functions, a boss mode for the front passenger seat, wireless chargers for both front and rear passengers, and a panoramic glass sunroof with integrated LED lighting.
3. Great to drive
Rides with ease over rough patches
The Mahindra XEV 9e offers a refined driving experience for such a large SUV. Its independent suspension paired with semi-active dampers allows it to glide smoothly over uneven surfaces. The steering is light and user-friendly at low speeds, making city driving effortless, while it feels more substantial and confident at higher velocities. The standard 19-inch wheels, together with a well-calibrated suspension, contribute greatly to a comfortable ride.
4. Refinement and performance
Instant acceleration typical of EVs
The top-tier variant of the XEV 9e is powered by a 79kWh battery coupled with a 286hp rear-wheel-drive motor, delivering outstanding performance and refinement with rapid acceleration. During testing, the SUV achieved a 0-100 km/h time of just 7.2 seconds (according to the onboard timer). It includes three driving modes – Range, Everyday, and Race – with robust power available even at lower performance settings. Additionally, a Boost function provides an extra surge of power when required, independent of the selected mode. The cabin maintains a quiet atmosphere, with minimal noise intrusion, and the vehicle is also offered with a less powerful 59kWh battery that drives a 231hp motor.
5. Space and comfort
Large door openings and well-padded seats
Accessing the interior of the XEV 9e is a breeze, thanks to doors that open to a full 90 degrees. The seats are luxuriously cushioned, with front seats featuring ventilation, electric adjustments, and memory functions. Rear seats provide ample thigh support and exceptional legroom, further enhanced by a boss mode function accessible via a manual control on the front passenger seat. While the headroom in the back is adequate for average-sized individuals, taller passengers may find it somewhat constrained due to the stylish coupe-SUV roofline.
