BMW M2 CS drifting

BMW has officially unveiled the new M2 CS at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025. As a more performance-oriented variant of the M2 Coupe, the M2 CS exemplifies what the “CS” designation signifies within BMW’s lineup. Notably, this model is anticipated to be the last iteration of the brand’s compact sports car to feature a purely combustion engine.

  1. Limited production numbers for the new M2 CS
  2. Equipped with a potent 530hp, 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine
  3. Achieves a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.8 seconds

2025 BMW M2 CS Engine and Specifications

Power and Torque Increases

The M2 CS retains the same 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine found in the standard M2, but output has been elevated to 530hp and 650Nm of torque—an increase of 50hp and 100Nm. This engine is exclusively paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, as BMW has determined that the 6-speed manual option offered with the regular M2 is not suited for handling the enhanced torque levels. Additionally, there was limited demand for a manual gearbox, which supported the decision to focus solely on the automatic option. The M2 CS accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in a claimed 3.8 seconds.

Weight Savings

In addition to its increased power, weight reduction is a key focus of the CS model. It features a carbon fibre roof and boot lid, leading to an overall kerb weight reduction of approximately 30kg compared to the regular M2, bringing the total to around 1700kg.

The M2 CS is equipped with stiffer engine mounts and refined spring and damper settings. Upgrades have also been made to the steering, brakes, and differentials. An optional lightweight titanium M Performance exhaust is available, designed specifically for this model, providing a more aggressive sound profile. The suspension has been retuned to lower the ride height by 8mm.

2025 BMW M2 CS Exterior and Interior Features

Distinctive Styling Elements

While the exterior changes may be subtle, the M2 CS features a slightly revised grille and enhanced air vents on the bumper for improved engine airflow. Its profile is accentuated by new lightweight alloy wheels finished in gold, which serve as a hallmark of the CS design. BMW offers the M2 CS in four paint options: Black Sapphire, Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Velvet Blue. The standout feature of this model is its ducktail spoiler, which enhances stability at high speeds, complemented by a more pronounced rear diffuser.

Inside, the M2 CS boasts sportier carbon bucket seats adorned in M performance colors, along with various carbon fibre accents and new CS branding on the seats and door sills. A newly designed M-spec Alcantara steering wheel adds to the sporty atmosphere. Despite its performance-oriented nature, the CS includes luxurious features such as a heated steering wheel, three-zone climate control, a head-up display, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system.
