The Latest Design Language
Recent spy images reveal that the new Seltos embraces Kia’s contemporary ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, similar to the recently unveiled EV9 and Syros models. However, the mid-size SUV incorporates a uniquely modified version of this design approach, featuring slim, angular vertical daytime running lights that surround the headlight units. The grille positioned between the headlights is newly designed, while the horizontal slats on the front bumper remain consistent with the previous model; the fog light housings have been redesigned.
Previous spy shots have indicated the addition of a new LED light strip connecting the tail lamps, a feature reminiscent of the EV5. Most test versions seen so far maintain a consistent alloy wheel design, with an 18-inch size similar to the top-spec GT Line and X-Line trims of the current Seltos. Although the new images do not showcase the interior of the next-gen Seltos, significant updates are expected within the cabin, including a revamped dashboard, new upholstery options, and enhanced features and safety systems.
Engine Options and Hybrid Powertrain
Anticipated Engine Configurations
The next-generation Kia Seltos is expected to carry over the current model’s three engine options: the 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and the 116hp 1.5-litre diesel engines. Additionally, a hybrid powertrain is anticipated to be integrated into the Seltos lineup after its debut. Reports suggest that the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will receive electrification for the new Seltos and will also be featured in Kia’s forthcoming three-row SUV. The manual and automatic gearbox options from the existing internal combustion engine variants are expected to carry over to the upcoming model as well, keeping it competitive against rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Tata Curvv.
