Vinfast VF6 and VF7 5 star BNCAP rating planned

Introduction of VF6 and VF7 in India

The VinFast VF6 and VF7 are set to be the first models assembled and launched in India by the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, expected to arrive later this year. To establish a strong foothold in a competitive market, VinFast is making specific adjustments to these models for the Indian audience, aiming for a prestigious 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating for both vehicles.

VinFast’s Expansion into Right-Hand Drive Markets

Historically, VinFast has operated in left-hand-drive markets, including its native Vietnam. The company is now building two factories—one in India and another in Indonesia—both of which cater to right-hand-drive markets. Consequently, India is poised to be the first country to have these vehicles produced and sold as right-hand-drive models, allowing VinFast to incorporate market-specific enhancements during development.

Modifications for Indian Road Conditions

Both the VF6 and VF7 feature increased ride heights, offering a ground clearance of 190mm, which is significantly higher than the left-hand-drive versions. To improve their performance on Indian roads, these models will also utilize slightly smaller wheels paired with high-profile tires, specifically Apollo tires for the VF7.

Safety Features Tailored to Indian Preferences

A variety of features have been modified to meet Indian consumer expectations. For instance, the VF7 will include a wireless phone charger, something not standard in other regions. Additionally, one-liter bottle holders in each door have been specified as a non-negotiable requirement for the Indian market.

In response to consumer demand, ventilated front seats will also be included, and the air conditioning compressor has been optimized for the local climate. Concerns about the large fixed glass roof’s potential to heat the vehicle in sunlight have been addressed; feedback has led to the implementation of a heat shield solution for the Indian version.

Commitment to Safety Ratings

To achieve the sought-after 5-Star Bharat NCAP rating, VinFast has equipped both models with seven airbags as standard. Moreover, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) will be offered. As both the VF6 and VF7 forgo traditional instrument clusters, essential information such as speed and battery range will be displayed in the driver-side corner of the touchscreen, supplemented by a heads-up display to minimize driver distraction.

Production for these models is expected to commence as early as July, with an official market launch planned before the end of 2025, as VinFast prepares to make its significant entry into the Indian automotive landscape.
